This Link is to the National Weather Service Forecasting for Luray and the general area. It is usually pretty accurate. In the summer, when the forecast predicts rain, it usually ends up being an hour of rain and it is over. A word of caution here: if you are in an RV be attentive to weather conditions. Usually before rain or a storm, it is accompanied by and initial front that blows pretty hard down the river valley and can take out your awning.
River Conditions vary with the amount of rain and snow. Generally, when the river is 5 feet, I do not recommend being in it unless you are experience and are wearing a PFD. The River is out of it’s banks when the River Gauge is at 8 feet.
River Gage – Note here, if the gage height gets to 8 feet, please give me a call!
Burning Restrictions: Spring/summer is a great time for collecting deadfall and kindling dropped from the trees on the property and surrounding woods. You might want to bring some sort of wood cutting capability with you (hatchet, campsaw, axe, chainsaw, log splitter, log skidder, etc. – depending on how much wood you want to burn). You are welcome to any dead fall (except my husband – John) on the property and surrounding woods.
Note: Because of the lack of rain or dry weather, there may be a restriction on open air fires before 4PM
